- Mission Statement -

The Sierra Trout Foundation's mission is to raise fish and make these fish available to all waters, marina operators and other community interests in the Sierras. This Foundation will also work with the Department of Fish and Game (DFG) to improve the management of the waters of our area. Education, Conservation and Sportsmanship are the ideals that will drive this foundation.

The Sierras have a unique economy, due to their large percentage of ownership by Government agencies. The economic health of this area is dependent upon its seasonal tourism, the angling/tourist dollar. The established fish enhancement programs are barely able to meet the angling pressure that our waters are receiving. The DFG cannot take into account our special circumstances when making management plans! We must and can do better. With the formation of this Foundation, we have given the communities of the Sierras the ability to make a difference in their own economic future while helping to keep our fisheries and watersheds healthy.

Fishing for Brown Trout
